Bushnell denies being the inventor of video games. He was, he says, merely "the middle man who interprets", taking video games out of the computer lab and into the shops#Bushnell claims matchmaking properties for his video game, Pong. "A lot of people have come up to me over the years and said, 'I met my wife playing Pong'"#The Japanese government has recently become concerned over the deteriorating eyesight of its school-age video-game players. According to a survey of 1.25 million schoolchildren, one in three had "extremely poor" eyesight#Video games have penetrated the workplace, to the chagrin of employers. So much time is being lost by workers playing computer games that many organizations have made such behavior a disciplinary offense#Despite his vast wealth, Bushnell remains an avid games player. Two of his favorites are Tetris and Myst#Bushnell acknowledges that video-game manufacturers have failed to interest girls in their products, admitting that none of his three daughters have ever expressed any interest in games#There is more to Bushnell than video games. His Chuck E Cheese empire incorporates nearly 300 restaurants and has made him over $100 million#Today, the world-wide market for video games is estimated to be $13 billion, of which over half is spent in the USA. More money is spent on video games each year than on Hollywood movies
